Privacy Policy for Mantra Counter

This Privacy Policy describes how Mantra Counter ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. We built Mantra Counter to be a simple, private tool for tracking mantra repetitions and meditation practice, and this policy explains exactly what happens with your data.

By downloading, installing, or using Mantra Counter, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Mantra Counter does not require account creation, sign-up, or login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information directly.

1.2 App Settings and Usage Data (Stored Locally Only)

The App stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android's standard local storage (SharedPreferences):

  • Your custom "beads per round" setting
  • Your sound and vibration preferences
  • Your current mantra count, round count, and session progress
  • Whether you have previously rated the app

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us, stored on any server, or shared with any third party by Mantra Counter itself. If you uninstall the App, this data is permanently deleted.

1.3 Information Collected Automatically

Mantra Counter itself does not use analytics tools and does not independently track your behavior, location, or usage patterns.

2. Third-Party Services

2.1 Advertising (Google AdMob)

Mantra Counter displays banner advertisements through Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC. To deliver ads (including personalized ads, where permitted), Google AdMob may automatically collect and process certain information, which may include:

  • Advertising identifiers (such as your Google Advertising ID)
  • Device information (device type, operating system version, language settings)
  • IP address and approximate location (derived from IP)
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

2.2 Play Store Rating Redirect

If you choose to rate the App through the in-app "Rate Now" prompt, you will be redirected to the Google Play Store. Any interaction on the Play Store is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy, not this one.

3. Permissions Used by This App

Mantra Counter requests the following device permissions, used strictly for the purposes described:

Permission Purpose
Internet access Required to load banner advertisements via Google AdMob
Vibration Used to provide haptic feedback when a bead is counted or a round is completed

The App does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, storage, call logs, or any other sensitive device permissions.

4. Children's Privacy

Mantra Counter is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App may display advertising through Google AdMob, and because AdMob's data collection practices are governed by Google, users under applicable age thresholds should use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through this App, please contact us so we can address the issue, though note we do not collect personal information ourselves as described in Section 1.

5. Data Security

Since Mantra Counter does not transmit or store personal data on external servers, there is no server-side data of yours for us to secure. All app data resides locally on your device and is protected by your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc., as configured by you or your device manufacturer).

We cannot guarantee the security of data processed by third-party services such as Google AdMob; please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they protect data.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local app data (settings, counts, progress) is retained on your device only until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App.
  • You can reset your in-app progress at any time using the "Reset" button within the App.
  • You can clear all locally stored App data at any time via your device's Settings → Apps → Mantra Counter → Clear Data/Storage.
  • We do not retain any copy of this data on our end, as we never receive it.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (such as the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California) regarding data collected by third parties like Google AdMob operating within our App. Since we do not collect or hold personal data ourselves, requests regarding advertising data are best directed to Google directly via the links in Section 2.1.

You may also:

  • Opt out of personalized advertising through your device's ad settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization, or equivalent)
  • Uninstall the App at any time to remove all locally stored data

8. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links that direct you outside the App (for example, to the Google Play Store). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party sites or services you access through such links.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality, legal requirements, or our practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
